Some academics have announced that the UK is in need of an 'energy revolution'. The constant drive to keep prices low, combined with the challenges of producing low carbon energy and meeting the need for new capacity, are pushing the country to breaking point. The energy value chain is undergoing an intense rebalance, and it's difficult to know which of our cards to play in order get a safe future energy mix. There's a lot of focus on low-carbon energy at the moment, but shouldn't we be addressing the issue of storage first and foremost?

How Important is Electricity Storage?

Tuesday, 13 May 2014 14:09:25 Europe/London

A new industry report claims that if the UK overlooks electricity storage as a priority investment, it could completely undermine EU green energy goals and the money being spend on renewable technology. The same report claimed that an extra 2 Gigawatts of new storage capacity by 2020 would balance out the network, cut carbon and increase our exports. So why isn't this higher on our priority list?Read More

Energy storage is essential to the UK's future goals

Wednesday, 26 February 2014 15:45:16 Europe/London

At the moment the UK has no discernible incentive to develop an effective energy storage infrastructure, but experts are warning that they're going to need one soon if they are to reach emission reduction targets and 'cleaning' its electricity supply. Without a viable energy storage system, it's unlikely that we'll hit our current target of 20 Gigawatts of solar generation by 2020. Many households are utilising solar, and taking advantage of more energy efficient electric heating solutions, but why is energy storage on a national scale so important?

Storage is the key to a viable future with renewable energy

Monday, 12 August 2013 15:27:51 Europe/London

In order for current renewable technologies to provide a solid foundation for energy supply in the future, we need to master the technology behind energy storage. Storage needs to play a bigger part in our energy grid and until this is the case, relying on renewable energy sources like wind and solar will remain a very distant target.
